For over twenty years, SALT has been organizing teaching conferences on topics that challenge law schools, faculties, and the legal community to reexamine how law is taught and how law can be used to solve the problems facing our communities and our nation.

Keith Aoki, a beloved faculty member from UC Davis and University of Oregon, has been chosen to receive the 2012 SALT Great Teacher Award posthumously.

Representing Unaccompanied Minors in Immigration Proceedings

The Society of American Law Teachers--SALT--and Kids in Need of Defense--KIND--present a two-credit CLE for practicing lawyers and law school students who want to provide pro bono counsel to unaccompanied children who are seeking safety in the United States.  The CLE will take participants through an overview of the proceedings, including migration of minor children, basics of removal proceedings for children, appearances in immigration court, legal remedies and options, and working with children.  Graduates of this program will join a growing community of pro bono counsel with whom to share information and advice while representing these children.
