POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT - Health Justice

Georgia State University College of Law is seeking interested candidates who specialize in legal disciplines that are consistent with developing a research agenda focused on achieving health equity and using legal remedies to address systemic health disparities. Candidates' legal backgrounds can be broad-based (e.g., health law, administrative law, legislation, civil rights, human rights, public law, economic inequality and law, social sciences and law, and social welfare law). The position supports a new interdisciplinary research initiative under our University's Second Century Initiative (2CI) (http://www.gsu.edu/secondcentury/), which funded an interdisciplinary cluster of three new faculty positions (one in law; two in public health) around the research theme of achieving health  justice through improving health equity and reducing health disparities. The new faculty in this cluster will provide a major enhancement in the University's capacity to explore the social, economic, epidemiologic, and legal dimensions of health justice and to work with communities for favorable health outcomes. For more information about the University's 2CI initiative and this position, please visit http://law.gsu.edu/agora/index/recruitment/health_equity.

Candidates for this position should have strong interdisciplinary research interests that will enable their engagement with the law school's Center for Law, Health & Society (http://law.gsu.edu/clhs/) and with the University's Institute of Public Health.

Applicants should have a Juris Doctor degree, excellent academic background, and a proven record of (or demonstrated potential for) outstanding scholarship, teaching, and professional engagement. All positions are tenure-track, and rank is at the assistant professor or associate professor level commensurate with experience.

Part of a comprehensive research University, the College of Law is located in the heart of Atlanta with approximately 650 full-time and part-time students. Georgia State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, is an Equal Opportunity Educational Institution and an EEO/AA employer. We encourage applications from minorities, women, and others who would enrich the diversity of our academic community.
