CLINICAL FELLOW, ENTREPRENEURSHIP CLINIC
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Northeastern University School of Law invites applications for a one-year grant funded fellowship to teach a new entrepreneurship clinic. The clinic will provide services to low-income and other underserved entrepreneurs in the Boston metropolitan area who need assistance with legal issues commonly encountered by start-up businesses, including negotiating licenses, permits and financial documents, protecting intellectual property rights, and responding to regulatory hurdles. The clinic will also focus on helping start-up businesses in new industries such as green construction and related technologies. The pedagogical goals of the clinic will be to teach transactional law practice as well as provide students with a rich experience in representing marginalized clients.
The Fellow’s primary role will be to teach transactional skills to upper-level law students in the new clinic and to supervise them in the provision of legal services to clinic clients. The Fellow will also work with other faculty involved in the Program on completing a market study of available resources for entrepreneurs in metropolitan Boston. Finally, the Fellow will be heavily involved in working with local community organizations to generate and maintain a sufficient base of clients and to provide excellent service to those clients.
The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Massachusetts bar. Practice experience is preferred, and a passion for social justice is expected. The candidate should also have an interest in legal education and a desire to be part of developing and shaping a new clinic.
The position is currently open and is funded by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration. We will review applications until the position is filled. Resume and cover letters should be submitted in electronic form to:
