Salary Survey

For your information: In 2011, SALT began a process of reevaluating the methodology of the SALT Salary Survey, exploring ways to improve the accuracy and consistency of the information gathered. The SALT Salary Survey will be published again in Spring 2012.

Each fall SALT distributes a salary survey to the deans of American law schools to collect information on typical salaries.  The more information collected from the survey, and from public sources, the more accurate the picture of academic salaries.

The results of the survey are published in the winter so that law professors have information available to them for hiring, retention, and promotions.

In the SALT Salary Survey, 2007-2008, reference is made to how to locate salary information for legal writing, law librarians, and clinicians as well.

Here are the most recent surveys.  The Salary Survey was not published in 2011 during this re-evaluation period. The Salary Survey will be published again in Spring 2012.
