THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA COLLEGE OF LAW ENDOWED POSITION SEARCH The University of Oklahoma College of Law is pleased to announce that applications and nominations are being accepted for the Welcome D. & W. DeVier Pierson Professorship of Law. The Professorship has been funded through a gift from W. DeVier Pierson. It is intended for a legal scholar with a national reputation for scholarship and superior teaching skills in any recognized field of law.
Candidates must have a Juris Doctor Degree, a record of excellent legal scholarship, and strong teaching skills. The person selected will have a level of personal energy and interest that will help attract and develop exceptional men and women to be tomorrow’s teachers and leaders in the legal profession. The position will be devoted primarily to teaching, scholarship, and service. The perfect candidate would be a person who has been successful as a teacher of law and a scholar who has received tenure at an ABA accredited law school and become at least an Associate Professor of Law. In addition, the successful applicant must possess demonstrated ability and experience to work effectively with business and professional leaders of Oklahoma and the nation, beyond the academic realm, and will be expected to make a high-level professional contribution for a substantial period of time.
The University of Oklahoma College of Law is located on the 2,000-acre Norman campus, which houses 13 colleges with approximately 800 faculty who serve 21,500 students. The College of Law currently has 42 regular faculty and 500 law students. The appointment will be at the full professor level. A competitive salary, along with significant research and travel support, is available through the endowment and state funding.
