SALT's mission is to:

  • make the legal profession more inclusive and reflective of the great diversity of this nation
  • enhance the quality of legal education by advancing social justice within the curriculum and promoting innovative teaching methodologies
  • extend the power of law to underserved individuals and communities

B.A. to J.D. Pipeline Project

To further SALT's commitment to diversity within the legal profession, the B.A. to J.D. Pipeline Project seeks to engage pre law advisers in a conversation with bar administrators, law school deans and admissions officers, and law school faculty to make college counseling more effective. The day-long program is typically capped by a law school career fair for pre law students after concurrent programming for pre law students. See below for infromation on the fifth successful program coming in the fall of 2013.

  • SALT is working with an impressive group of collaborators to turn current research into practice to improve counseling of college students of color so that they will have the tools they need to succeed in law school.

  • Starting with "Opening Doors: Making Diversity Matter in Law School Admissions," SALT continues organizing regional gatherings of bar administrators, law school deans and admissions officers, pre law advisers, and students, so that they can develop the most effective counseling and application techniques to improve diversity in law school admissions. Our next regional events will be held at the University of Houston Law Center October 11, 2013, the University of Puerto Rico School of Law December 5, 2013, and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the spring of 2014.

  • Current resources to assist students, teachers, pre law advisors, law school admissions officers, and those interested in diversifying the legal academy to find the most current research and put that research to work.
