Syria and chemical weapons killing by Assad of nearly 1500: “There must be accountability.” http://m.csmonitor.com/World/terrorism-security/2013/0827/Kerry-says-there-must-be-accountability-for-Syria

Bush torture and lying America into the War in Iraq with over 100 000 dead Iraqis, 4500 dead Americans and 30000 wounded Americans. “We need to look forward, not backward.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/us/politics/12inquire.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Am I the only one who finds these statements attributed to President Obama shockingly craven in their disconnect from moral coherence.  No reckoming for the abuse of the trust of ordinary Americans and the lives of foreigners, but up in arms and willing to seek accountability for a foreign leader’s horrors against his people.

How is one to not become cynical in light of these painfully inconsistent positions?
